Kazama was a yakuza for as long as he could remember. From when he was a teenager, he believed. It was a life that chose him, not the other way around. He was raised by his biological parents for a short period before he was suddenly sent to live with other relatives. They weren't dead, so what happened? Kazama has questioned it ever since he was a child, and has yet been able to get the answers he so desired.

But he's picked up his parents’ trail, by diving into dirty business. Kazama became a yakuza member at sixteen, and began to work his way up in rank. Soon after, at the age of 26, he was already working on creating his own, independent family. He already had quite a following, due to his dominating presence in fights...or in anything, really.

He's rather stoic in personality, but he has a heart of gold, willing to help out anyone and everyone— a rare quality in most yakuza. Which means he's not as scary as he looks. But he is not a pushover. Anyone who has tried to make a fool out of him has either been beaten to a pulp, or almost killed. Even though he can seem rather abrasive, it's not voluntary. He can't show weakness due to his status in the criminal underworld.

Kazama had a lover named Rena Higurashi, but when he was 27 she was tragically killed protecting him from an ambush. Just when they thought they were safe, she was shot in the back. They were going to be married soon, and since Kazama's fingers were too big for a ring, he settled for dragon necklaces instead. But her death squashed all of that. He still wears the accessory to keep her memory alive to this day. It's a keepsake he will never let go of.

A year later, and Kazama had picked up his parent's trail. He followed their trail all the way to Nagoya, where everything seemed almost too perfect to be a coincidence. No, it was all deliberate. Still, he took the bait, and confronted his parents. The truth was more important to him than anything. They were surprised that their son went to such lengths—even to the point of entering the very life they tried to protect him from—to find them. It was a bittersweet reunion.

But the taste of sweet relief was only brief. Not even his parents knew what was going to happen next.

Bombs suddenly went off around them, the force causing the building to crumble into nothing more than ash. Kazama managed to fight off the assailants that suddenly appeared to kill him and get his parents to safety. However, he himself wasn't so lucky.

Shrapnel flew in every direction, hitting him all over his body. He was still determined to stay behind and do what he could, but with his injuries, he barely clung to consciousness. His parents took him to the hospital, where the staff tried to repair any organ and tissue damage as much as possible. But he had already lost so much blood and he was dying already.

It was heartbreaking for them to hear. Their only child was dying and there was no way to stop it. Fate dealt a cruel hand to Kazama. Days passed, and he still showed no signs of life. His brain activity was slowing, and he slowly sank into a true state of death.

Everyone thought that after today, he would be dead. Even his own men were drowning in their own sorrow over their boss suddenly dead. But instead, the opposite happened...with a twist.

He was injected with an experimental drug by one of his men, while the nurses weren’t looking. Suddenly, his vitals and overall condition improved. It was a miracle in every sense of the word. But every miracle had a catch…and this one was a poisoned one.

While Kazama’s condition improved greatly, when he finally regained consciousness, he didn’t realize it. Not at first. He was breathing on his own before his eyes snapped open and he was clawing his way towards the door, the monitors and everything else being thrown and discarded—literally. The more security and nurses came, the more hostile he became. Fangs and claws were bared, which petrified the staff and made them easy killing targets. But he didn’t kill them.

Instead, he barreled through them. Olive green hues narrowed as he looked for a safe place. That was all his body could think about. Anyone who got in his way was basically mowed down by his sheer power alone. He came to a stop in a bathroom, examining his features. Kazama believed he was dreaming, due to the lack of pain he was feeling.

But nothing felt phased out. His breathing was heavy, and his eyes…they were slit, like a dragon’s eyes. He yelled in horror at his reflection, and fire spewed from his mouth. He instantly closed it, his hand smashing over twin flesh for further protection. Just what was he now? He wasn’t human anymore, and the reality of that sunk in.

About two days after the horrifying incident, Kazama was released from the hospital with not a scratch or scar to be seen on him. His men awaited him outside, where he was to be taken back to headquarters so their operations could continue smoothly. He had no time to recuperate, nor did he have time to reflect on what he was now. He would figure it out with time and experience.

Work had to be done.

Ten to eleven years later, and Kazama has grown in power and influence. He’s a veteran of the Underworld, and it’s earned him the nickname ‘Dragon Incarnate’ for obvious reasons. Not a lot of people dare to cross him, but there are those bold enough to try. Those who do are either near death or have never been heard from since. Unlike most Yakuza, who allow their soldiers to do their work, he does all high priority deals and missions on his own, to minimize casualties and confrontations.

Recently, he’s run into a woman named Zenia, who ironically has the same abilities he does. But she was only twenty…and homeless. At first, he wanted nothing to do with her. But he eventually took her in as his own, protecting her from dragon slayers. He didn’t believe they existed, but he found out when he found her unconscious near his headquarters, about to be murdered in cold blood. He stopped them, and hasn’t seen them since.

Since he has her in his life, it’s been a little more exciting. She bothers his men a little too much, she lays on him at inappropriate times (both in dragon and human form) even during meetings. She even asked him about finding a woman and everything (he doesn’t talk about that or avoids the subject altogether). Zenia’s a ball of energy, but honestly he doesn’t mind.

Maybe his life wasn’t so bad after all.
